Buckley Family letters, 1854-1909.

The collection consists mainly of letters to brothers John and Charles Buckley. Many letters to John concern the homefront during the Civil War and include descriptions of recruitment camps in Carroll and White Counties. Other letters are romantic in nature. Letters to Charles Buckley discuss military life, women, and farming. Letters from the brothers concern family news and experiences at Purdy's Actual Business College in Indianapolis. George Buckley writes of Indianapolis' reaction to Lincoln's assassination. Other material includes poems, ephemera, and a skin-covered wooden trunk.
